GOING GREEN

Hi, My name is Roxanne,

I am a designer at Norwood furniture. It seems as if everyone is jumping on the green bandwagon. We are all more concerned with our carbon footprint. When remodeling or decorating your home, there are many options that are easy on the eye as well as the environment.

Bamboo floors are an eco friendly option.

Bamboo grows 20 times faster than oak and is more durable.

There are fabrics made from bamboo as well and can be found in upholstery and mattresses.

Here at Norwood, Rowe upholstery has a selection of eco friendly fabrics and frames. There are over 200 natural fiber fabrics including certified organic cottons.

Wood from replenished domestic forests are used for frames.

Eco cushion cores contain plant based renewable materials.

We carry Aireloom mattresses which are made with bamboo fabrics, which are made from bamboo and wood pulp from the forest, a completely renwable substantially natural resource. These fabrics are exceptionally soft, absorb moisture very fast and are some of the most comfortable fabrics in the industry today. Bio based luxury foams including visco elastic, Reflux, and Energia foams are made by removing up to 20% of the petroleum polymers found in poly eurethane and replacing them with soy or bio based polymers.

Remembering and Supporting the Service Men and Women of Our Country

  This last October and November of 2008 Norwood Furniture had the pleasure of raising money and awareness for a special group named "The Military Family Support Group". This is a group of volunteer individuals who on their own have been meeting every month for over 4 years assembling and sending care packages to all five branches of the Military on the front lines. The packages are filled with the little things that help make their tour of duty a little nicer. Besides the goodies they receive the other benefit this has is letting our troops know we have not forgotten them and appreciate them for their service to us and the country.

Most of these volunteers have immediate family in the service and 3 of them have paid the ultimate price with the loss of a family member. We decided to help this group after a presentation by Viana Bruce who is a Key Volunteer. We are totally impressed by the commitment, dedication and help this group provides to the troops on the front lines and the support they provide to the families at home.

I want to thank our generous customers, friends and team members who overwhelming supported this cause with their donations. We donated $4270.00 in cash! This money will be used to pay for the postage to send the care packages to Iraq, Afghanistan or wherever our troops are stationed. It costs about $10.00 to send each package and they send out about 250 each month.
